As a consumer you have credit rights. The FCRA is the Federal law that protects your credit rights. The FCRA was enacted on October 26th 1970 an was an amendment to the original act enacted in 1968 (Consumer Credit Protection Act).
This law regulates the collection, dissemination and use of consumer information, including consumer credit reports. Knowing your credit rights as stated in the FCRA will help you to protect your financial well being by ensuring the highest credit score possible.
